I have used hemoclips to harvest LIMAs for 30 years. They have provided me with the ability to take the LIMA down safely and dependably. Without clips, I doubt I could harvest a LIMA given the very confined operative field. I have also used hemoclips to secure side branches of SVG in order to create a flush closure of the side branches of the bypass grafts. I believe that the vein grafts are less likely to develop thrombi if the side branch closure is flush and does not have a "pocket" at the takeoff of the side branch. Hemoclips are a mainstay of my surgical tools. They are simple and reliable."
